Alright legends — nothing worse than warm beers or spoiled snags when you're out bush. If you’re serious about touring, having a proper fridge setup is essential. Bushman fridges are a favourite among WA tradies and weekend warriors alike, and installing one in your canopy doesn’t have to be a headache. Let’s run through how to get it done, the right way.
Step 1: Pick the Right Bushman Fridge
Make sure you're getting the right model for your canopy size. The Bushman 85L is one of the most popular, however, go the 130L if it fits. You'll never regret the extra space and it still has a low power draw.
Step 2: Choose the Mounting Position
You want easy access, ventilation, and space for a fridge slide if needed. Usually right behind the cab on the passenger side is prime real estate.
Step 3: Power Setup
Run a dedicated 12V line from your auxiliary battery. Make sure the wire gauge is thick enough and fused close to the battery. Use Anderson plugs for a solid connection and a quick disconnect if required.
Step 4: Secure It All
Use bolts and brackets to fix the fridge or slide into the canopy floor. No one wants a fridge flying around on corrugations.
Step 5: Added Protection
Do you want added protection and make the most out of usable space around your fridge? Why not use a TLX 4x4 Fridge Box to keep everything protected. Now available in both Mill Finish and Powder Coated Black. TLX 4x4 Fridge Boxes
